This one goes way back. It’s a song from our psychedelic grunge days, when distorted guitars were all the rage. Imagine it now!
The song is about a neurotic girl hiding within herself after having done something unforgivable. Or so she thinks.
It’s not about a real person, but rather a model neurotic girl as my distorted mind imagined it.

Lyrics

Take The Blame

You’re silent, it means a lot to you
You’re talkative when you’re being discreet
You’re wise, you speak in riddles
You’re silent when we meet

All the words you have forgotten
when you learned your inward stare
They come upon you like a storm
I can see the child you were
I can see the child you were

You were afraid to write your name
Instead you’d act as if you’re bleeding
You loved to think up games to play alone
Every day was just the same
It was never what you needed
And you would always take the blame but tell no one

What you did was wrong
but no one else could have done it
they can’t read the signs like you can

And you rose to the occasion
Your banner flying above the tumbling walls
and it’s quite an achievement
for someone who is still rather small
A child after all

Afraid to write your name
Across the ruins of this city
Should you be ashamed to see them run
Nothing’s going to change and
There is no one left to pity
And you’re bound to take the blame
and tell no one

You’ll tell no one
Tell no one
Because there’s no one left here

Tell no one
Tell no one
Tell no one
Because there’s no one left here
